Haunted Halloween trail
Chris, the ghoulish monster, scares visitors to the Briggs Haunted Trail at the Frostville Museum complex at the corner of Cedar Point and Lewis Roads in the Cleveland Metroparks Rocky River Reservation in North Olmsted. The trail, sponsored by the Olmsted Historical Society, is open to brave visitors through Saturday. Cost is $10 per person. For more information, go to www.olmstedhistoricalsociety.org. WESTSHORE — On the same day as the candidates forum, Republican Ohio House candidate Nan Baker filed a complaint with the Ohio Elections Commission alleging that campaign literature paid for by the Ohio Democratic Party contained false and misleading information. A commission committee determined that there was probable cause that there was a violation.

Firefighter awaiting appeal of suspension
BAY VILLAGE — Mayor Debbie Sutherland said she will make a decision in early November on firefighter Ron Westmoreland’s appeal of his suspension. Westmoreland had said at a City Council meeting that cuts to the fire department's dive team resulted in a death by drowning.
