Reporter heads out on water patrol
WESTSHORE — West Life reporter Ben Saylor accompanied the Rocky River Police Department on their 26-foot Boston Whaler named the Argus IV Saturday to get a first-hand look at how they patrol Lake Erie.
Clough: RTA owes service to Westshore suburbs
But fuel cost increases put agency in tough spot, board member says

WESTSHORE — Several area mayors have expressed concern about the effect proposed cuts in bus servcie will have on commuters. Westlake Mayor Dennis Clough, a member of RTA’s board of directors, urged riders who will be affected by the agency’s cuts to attend upcoming public hearings.
Fire hires planned despite challenge
BAY VILLAGE — The process has begun to hire two firefighters. One will fill a vacancy caused by a recent death in the department. The other will be an all-shifts floater to fill in for absent firefighters. This plan has not satisfied a citizens group unhappy with cuts to firefighters' overtime costs.
